Joseph Ellis on Exporting Democracy

Historian Joseph Ellis expounds on the reasons that democracy cannot, and should not, be exported or "forced" on other nations and cultures. Ellis states in this video that the Founding Fathers would unanimously object to democracy being "introduced" to any other nation, because they understood that democracy has to be accepted by a people for themselves. Very interesting video. Enjoy!

Yup. I'd love to see what the Founders (especially Washington) would say about U.S. foreign policy over the past 25 years. It doesn't even resemble the AMERICA of our Founders. And no, republicans, I am NOT being anti-American on unpatriotic. Perhaps you should read a book some day or even the Constitution, instead of buying in to your bogus false sense of patriotism!

Let's FIX America for a change, instead of arguing about stupid, pointless garbage like the conservatives want. Time to bring back the legacy of the Founding Fathers. This is REAL patriotim.

I take it that you don't like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity, Raven!

You are right about U.S. foreign policy being quite different today, but remember that the Founding Fathers (and virtually every American generation before 1945), lived in a VERY different America. Times have, and will continue to change, but that doesn't mean that we have to give up what the Founders have left. I will be the first to agree with you that we MUST recognize the importance of our founding. Without it, this nation will not stand.
